“SCIPAC® History”
SCIPAC is a leading manufacturer of essential reagents used in both point of care and laboratory based diagnostic test kits. The company was first developed in 1985 based on the idea of offering individual scientific packages, for use as educational aids. SCIPAC founders, Clive Dawes and Tony Raeside soon realised that they had the potential to offer much more to the medical industry, and began to diversify. They quickly expanded and managed to secure their own manufacturing site in a secluded part of the Kent countryside.
Building up a small but experienced team, they began to produce purified human proteins, which are now a fundamental tool in medical diagnostics. The demand for these products was extensive, leading to the expansion of both the product range and the scientific team.
“SCIPAC® Today”
Today, SCIPAC offers the complete diagnostics package on a global scale. The human protein range has been expanded to include over 450 different markers in both native and recombinant forms. A selection of fully characterised antibodies matching these proteins has also been added, along with an extensive collection of bulk disease state plasma and individual clinical samples. HbA1c reagent solutions for diabetes monitoring and cell culture reagents used in the production of serum free media are other recent addition to the SCIPAC catalogue.
In 2010 SCIPAC became part of the BBInternational group. The group has manufacturing sites around the world, servicing the diagnostics industry. The BBI group aim to support customers through every aspect of IVD device development, right through from the initial concept to the product launch. Products and services include gold colloid, bulk natural enzymes and contract manufacturing services.

The core values of SCIPAC have remained; ensuring customers receive high quality products from a knowledgeable and dedicated support team. Staff numbers have expanded to over 60 people, and the company is now accredited with the Investors in People recognition. Product quality is guaranteed, with the manufacturing site operating under ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 quality management systems. In 2010 SCIPAC was rewarded for its hard work and successful economical growth over the past 25 years, with two prestigious Queens’s Awards for Innovation and International Trade.
