Vitamin D Depleted Serum < 10nmol/L 25(OH) Vitamin D 11/2011
Vitamin D has been used in clinical diagnostics for a long time, but it has not been until recently that is has received so much public attention. Historically vitamin D levels have been measured to assess a patient’s bone density in association with diseases such as rickets and osteomalacia. More recently, the vitamin has been implicated in a number of different clinical conditions including cancer, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, tuberculosis and Alzheimer’s disease. SCIPAC have developed a vitamin D depleted serum that has total 25(OH) Vitamin D levels below the detection limit of most commercially available Immunoassay and LC-MS instruments. The Vitamin D binding protein levels are similar to the reference range and do not affect its functioning as a plasma matrix. This product is ideal for use as a negative control or for the production of Vitamin D calibrators. View the Vitamin D depleted serum product listing here.
