Luteinising Hormone (LH)

A glycoprotein hormone of mol wt 28.5 kDa and pI 7.4 secreted by the pituitary. In females LH synergizes with FSH to stimulate estrogen production and this test is used in IVF protocols. In males LH acts on the testicles to stimulate testosterone production and LH levels indicate gonad function.
